Before textured polishes, the biggest passing trend in nail polishes was magnetic polishes, although it is debatable how passing it was. Even though they have never been as widespread as textured polishes, they can still be found in many indie lines. However, 10 years ago many mainstream manufacturers made a collection or two of magnetic polishes. One of them was China Glaze, who offered 12 shades and 2 magnets with 3 patterns each in two editions of Magnetix polishes.
In the bottle, China Glaze Con-fused? looks like a washed-out metallic green polish and that it what it looks like when you put it on your nails. But when you magnetize it, metallic particles will move to follow the pattern of the magnet and reveal a very deep, dark green base. Unfortunately, the effect lost its shape rather fast, despite me having used the magnet both before and after quick-dry top coat. To be honest, I can't remember when I last wore a magnetic polish. It is partly due to the magnets, whose patterns I find somewhat limiting, but for the most part it is because I find the entire process slow and daunting. Is the end result worth it? I am not sure, but I have worn this mani since Saturday. Even not crisp, the cat's eye effect is mesmerizing. On top of that, you can find very creative manis on Instagram that are using magnetic polishes as base for nail art or stamping.
Slike su snimljene na dnevnom svetlu. Imam dva sloja laka i jedan sloj nadlaka. Magnet koji sam koristila je Masura.
Photos were taken in sunlight. I have two coats of polish and a layer of top coat. I used Masura magnet.
That looks amazing. I haven't had a magnetic on in ages!
ReplyDeleteI always feel like they went out of fashion because none of the mainstream brands are making them, but indies are just coming up with new shades.
DeleteDivna boja!
